The old town festival takes place this year from 13. – 24. September 2012. Burgermeister horst forther made it on 13. September opened at 17:30 in representation of the oberburgermeister. In the almost two weeks is also again a lot offered on the island debris.
On saturday, 15. September, there will be a rough procession starting at 12 noon. With more than 35 groups, beer wagons, horse-drawn carriages, traditional costume groups, samba dancers, various craft guilds and many musical groups, the old town association offers one of the largest festivals in central franconia. The participants march from jakobsplatz over the weiben turm and the lorenzkirche to hans-sachs-square
also on saturday – at 14:00 – the traditional fischerstechen on the river pegnitz will take place, where teams from different parts of germany compete for the winner in team or individual competitions.
The cultural program offers many "highlights" again this year. The ladies band "night nurses opens the program on friday evening at the main market with the most popular songs from pop, rock, evergreens etc. On saturday, 15. September performances at the main market "ABBA da capo, a revival band on and in the catharine monastery the "jive talkin’ – the portrait of the bee gees". On 1. Sunday again french choirs sing in the afternoon at the main market and in the evening the sound orchestra burgthann plays classic big-band-sounds. In the afternoon the popular hans-sachs-playgroup shows their acting skills and in the evening the "baroqueblasers" play from baroque to pop.
As a permanent fixture on monday 17. 9. In the evening at 20:00 the travesty cabaret "paradise"-revue theater on. Tuesday is the rough rock evening with the bands "rocktools at the main market and "acoustic circus in the catharine monastery. Wednesday is country evening with the "country stars".
On thursday, the 20.9. There is the talent show "who ko the may" at the main market. There are again young and old talents who want to present themselves to the public. And on friday there will be "variete variete" on the main market square. You will be enchanted by artistry, acrobatics and much more.
